TREE FARM NEWs

HAPPY SPRING / SUMMER FROM EVANS TREE FARM AND NURSERY

Welcome to the Tree Farm Blog !  And very happy welcome to Late Spring/Early Summer!  Welcome sunshine! Welcome butterflies!   And welcome to our most wonderful hummingbirds, who travelled 5,000 miles to see us this year!

Peony Bloom 2024 is officially underway !!!  Kicking things off this year, in a surprise move, is the outrageously stunning and aptly named Miss Scarlett O’Hara!    I love the bright red and gold stamens and the perfect cup shape to this one.   She’s a showstopper!!

Swing by the tree farm over the next couple weeks – we have thousands more fat flower buds getting ready to open and it’s set to be a great bloom this year.   We’d love to see you !!  Pallavi can talk peonies with you for days and days if you want to know more, or just let yourself enjoy the beauty and harmony of the peony blooms!

Also, as some of you know, we did a community project.  There was a small colony of feral cats that had been abandoned up the road from us.  We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we knew we had to help them.   We found a great new organization in town called Missoula Advocats! They helped us out so much!  The kittens went to foster care, where they will be treated like royalty and learn socialization skills.  When they’re big enough, they get spay/neuter/vaccines and up for adoption to their furever homes.    Missoula Advocats lent us some traps for the adults and got us in touch with a vet who does low cost spay/neuter/vaccines.  Pallavi successfully caught all the adults and we got them all into the vet.  It’s more difficult for adult feral cats to get adopted, since they enjoy the wilder lifestyle.   After their vet adventure, we took them in as our new barn cats.  They’re still holding a grudge but hopefully with some TLC, a nice barn and lots of area to roam, and of course, treats, they will forgive us soon.      We can’t say enough nice things about Missoula Advocats and it’s great to have this organization in our local community.  If you are interested in adopting some cats, have a feral colony you want to help, or interested in donating or volunteering, don’t hesitate to get in touch with them.   They could use all of our help to keep helping out Missoula area kitties.   They’re on the web at www.MissoulaAdvocats.org and on Facebook.  For their urgently needed items, here is a link to their Amazon wish list .     Thank you so much Missoula Advocats for helping us and the kitties out!!

                                                                                                          SPRING/SUMMER TREE SAFETY

Our favorite part of being professional arborists is that we get to help people keep their families, properties and trees safe.  NOW is the time to go ahead and make sure you’ve gotten any potential danger trees or dangerous overhanging branches away from buildings  !     Certain tree species tend to be more vulnerable to cracks and damage from deep freeze weather.   When the spring and summer storms power up, those trees can become dangerous!  Ask the professionals at Evans Tree Farm for their expert opinion on your tree’s stability and have us check for any dead or hanging branches, cracks, weak branch unions and heavy horizontal branches. Evans Tree Farm tree service can prune or, if necessary, remove your tree, especially at-risk trees, limbs or branches that could cause serious damage if they fell.   Fire season is also just around the corner.  NOW is the time to reduce your fire hazard risk around your property.  Give our tree professionals a call today at 406 721 8733 to schedule an appointment to have us provide a free evaluation.
